About Andy
Andy Green works with stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem and depression using a mix of client-centred and psychodynamic approaches. He is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and has three years' experience as a practising counsellor.
Before training in counselling, Andy spent 20 years working with people from many backgrounds. That time included supporting those dealing with anxiety, depression, substance use and behaviour change. Those earlier roles influence how he listens and responds in sessions today.
Sessions start by looking at what matters most now. He helps people talk through current difficulties and any relevant past experiences that shape how they think and feel. The focus is on understanding patterns and finding practical ways to manage day-to-day problems.
Andy mixes client-centred work, which prioritises the individual's perspective and pace, with psychodynamic ideas that examine how past relationships affect present behaviour. He adapts the balance between these approaches to what each person finds most useful.
He works with adults and young people on issues such as bereavement, relationship patterns, self-harm thoughts, shame and guilt, and problems linked to chronic illness or caregiving stress. He offers both short-term and longer-term counselling and attends regular supervision as part of his professional practice.
How his approaches translate to online counselling
Client-Centred Therapy focuses on the person's experience and pace, giving space for them to speak and be heard; it can help with low mood, self-esteem and relationship concerns. Psychodynamic Therapy looks at how past relationships and experiences shape current patterns, helping people notice repeated ways of thinking and relating.
Finding the right approach is part of the work. Andy will discuss what fits your needs, goals and preferences and they will decide together how much emphasis to give each way of working. That collaborative process continues as priorities change over time.
If you are considering online sessions, please confirm the available session formats before booking since no formats are listed here. Online counselling can make it easier to fit sessions into a busy week, reduce travel time and allow shorter check-ins when needed. It can also suit people who prefer not to be on camera or who need lower bandwidth options, and the therapist will talk through practical arrangements when you book.
Sessions take place through BetterHelp by video, phone or messaging. We will earn a commission if you sign up.
